Welcome to the online supplement to Clearing the Plains. This website provides teachers, students, scholars, and others much of the 20 years of research that went into writing the bestselling and Governor General award-winning book, Clearing the Plains.
As a new university press, we are committed to producing as many Open Access (OA) materials as resources permit. We believe OA books help level the playing field between the haves and have-nots, spur more research and publishing, and will lead to a renaissance in academic inquiry. Currently we have one OA title available for free online (Free Knowledge: The Commodification of Human Discovery), with four more books in development.
Scholar and author James Daschuk has taken a giant step forward in OA by making available his publicly funded research. Academics have traditionally guarded their research from view, so he is revolutionizing the OA model with this gesture.
University of Regina Press challenges all scholars to follow Daschuk’s lead to speed productivity, research progress, and knowledge translation and take the OA model to this logical next step.
