In 2015, the University of Regina launched an Open Textbook Publishing Program to make textbooks free for students. The University of Regina Press has participated in this program, first with the publication of Free Knowledge: Confronting the Commodification of Human Discovery (Patricia W. Elliott and Daryl H. Hepting, eds.) and now with the development of several new textbooks.
Our latest Open Access experiment will be a free audiobook release of Neal McLeod's poetry collection, the book of ayâs. This audiobook will help teach the pronounciation of the Cree words in this work and will ensure that everyone can enjoy McLeod's stunning work.
